Enter two birth records to compare the reliable chart factors available for each person, classify unknown-time Moon contacts by survival across the civil-day window, combine the strongest synastry threads with a composite midpoint layer, and add any directional house overlays the known birth times support. This is a map for conversation—not a compatibility score.
What this report is for
A useful relationship report should make the chart easier to talk about.
A synastry chart can become visually dense very quickly. This report keeps the reading structured rather than artificially small: with known times it calculates Sun through Pluto plus Rising for each person, surfaces the tightest major contacts, classifies any unknown-time Moon contacts by whether they survive the date window, adds an integrated composite midpoint layer, and then shows each planet landing in the other person’s selected house frame. Unknown-time mode keeps only the placements that do not depend on a fabricated clock time. The point is not to declare a match “good” or “bad.” It is to make the chart specific enough that you can ask better questions about emotional pacing, communication, affection, initiative, growth, limits, change, ideals, intensity, and first impressions.
The two wheels are rotated so each person’s Ascendant sits at the nine-o’clock position, and each wheel also carries its calculated MC/IC axis. Planet labels come from the same longitudes used by the calculator, and close points are nudged slightly so they remain legible instead of sitting directly on top of one another. The house-overlay tables then reuse those planet longitudes against the receiving chart’s Whole Sign, Equal House, or Placidus frame. If the receiving person has no known time, that direction is withheld.
How to read the order
Start with the closest contact, then look for a repeated theme.
The aspect cards are sorted by orb, so the first card is the closest match to an exact conjunction, sextile, square, trine, or opposition inside this tool’s focused limits. Outer-planet contacts use tighter limits than Sun or Moon contacts so slow generational placements do not dominate the list. A close aspect is not automatically more important than every other factor in a complete chart, but it is a practical place to begin. Read the first two or three cards and notice whether the same theme appears more than once: perhaps communication keeps meeting emotion, or attraction keeps meeting differences in pace.
The integrated summary first keeps the synastry lead separate from the composite lead. The Pattern Map then groups repeated evidence into reading themes and exposes the receipts behind each one: synastry contacts, composite aspects, directional overlays, and any Moon-window evidence that survived the uncertainty test. When multiple lenses return to the same theme, the report distinguishes Reinforced geometry, Counterbalanced evidence, and Tension between lenses instead of flattening those differences into one score. The advanced Evidence Explorer sits below that synthesis and opens the full calculation set: every detected major synastry aspect, every surviving unknown-time Moon contact, every internal composite aspect, and every available directional overlay. You can filter the table by lens or precision boundary without changing the Pattern Map’s reading order. The internal ordering is only a reading order and does not invent a new compatibility score. The explorer deliberately does not rank natal synastry with an applying/separating label; that convention is debated outside timing work, so Velvet Zodiac does not publish a motion label unless its own calculation can support the receipt. If a theme feels accurate, use it as a prompt for a real conversation. If it does not, the lived relationship deserves more weight than the label.
Birth-time accuracy
Angles and houses are only as precise as the recorded time.
This report uses local birth time and place when available because the Ascendant, Midheaven, Moon, and house frame are time-sensitive. When a time is approximate, the user can declare a range from ±15 minutes through ±2 hours or a custom interval; Velvet Zodiac then evaluates every valid local minute in that range and marks tested factors Stable or Boundary-sensitive. When a time is unknown, those outputs are omitted from exact synastry math rather than synthesized from a noon placeholder; the report instead shows the Moon’s start-to-end local-date range and classifies possible major Moon contacts as Stable across the full window, Conditional for only part of it, or Omit when no part of the window supports the contact. A small time error can matter more at some latitudes than others. Velvet Zodiac keeps its existing historical-time handling for older birth records and shows a note when a pre-1970 time zone needs extra caution. If a Rising-related aspect or house overlay is central to your interpretation and a declared approximate-time scan changes that factor anywhere in the interval, treat it as Boundary-sensitive; if it survives every tested minute, the report labels it Stable.
Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars move much more slowly than the Ascendant. Moon can still change signs within a day, so the unknown-time panel shows its civil-day arc instead of silently choosing the noon Moon. The composite layer follows the same boundary: if either time is missing, composite Moon and Rising remain omitted rather than quietly re-entering through midpoint math. The report now puts its executive synthesis, Pattern Map, and Precision Ledger before the technical evidence so the reading order is visible before the wheels and aspect tables. Saved copies remain local to the browser, while the private-summary action strips birth dates, clock times, and locations from the copied text. A standalone HTML export can be kept offline or printed to PDF. The report is strongest when the input is accurate, but precision in the chart should never be confused with certainty about what two people will choose.
Relationship report FAQ
What is included in the relationship report?
With known times, the report shows Sun through Pluto plus Rising, natal wheels with MC axes, the ten tightest synastry aspects in the main reading, a composite midpoint wheel, directional house overlays, an evidence-backed Pattern Map, a Precision Ledger, and an advanced Evidence Explorer that exposes every detected major aspect and available overlay without turning them into a score. Approximate times can carry a declared ±15-minute, ±30-minute, ±1-hour, ±2-hour, or custom range; the tool scans every valid local minute in that interval and labels tested factors Stable, Boundary-sensitive, or Withheld. If a time is unknown, Moon, Rising, MC, and that person’s house frame are omitted from exact synastry math while the slower planetary layer remains; the Moon’s civil-day range is classified separately, and composite Moon/Rising stay omitted if either time is missing.
Is this a compatibility score?
No. Velvet Zodiac does not reduce a relationship to a score. The Pattern Map orders themes by repeated computed evidence and shows the receipts behind that order; it does not rate the relationship, predict an outcome, or label a pattern positive or negative.
What is the Pattern Map?
It groups repeated calculated factors into practical reading themes such as emotional repair, communication, affection, structure, change, ideals, and power. Each theme shows which Synastry, Composite, House Overlay, or Moon-window receipts caused it to surface, plus the precision boundary for those receipts. Cross-lens states distinguish Reinforced patterns from Counterbalanced evidence and genuine Tension between lenses instead of averaging them into a score.
Where is my relationship report stored?
The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is saved unless you press Save locally, and saved reports stay in local browser storage on that device. You can label recent local saves, remove them from the report index, copy a private summary that excludes birth dates, clock times, and locations, download a standalone HTML report, or use Print / Save PDF without sending the calculation to a Velvet Zodiac account.
