Midpoint relationship chart
Composite chart,
no destiny score.
A composite chart takes the shortest-arc midpoint between matching placements in two natal charts. This version calculates Sun through Pluto, adds Moon and Rising when both birth times support them, and ranks the tightest internal aspects without turning them into a destiny score.
Composite versus synastry
Two different questions about the same relationship.
Synastry keeps both natal charts intact and asks how one person’s placements aspect the other person’s. Composite instead creates a third chart from midpoints. That can be useful for describing the tone a relationship develops when it operates as a unit, but it should not erase either individual chart.
Use composite when you are asking about the bond’s shared style. Use synastry when you want to see how two distinct people stimulate, support, or challenge one another. Then check both interpretations against what actually happens in the relationship.

Composite chart FAQ
What is a composite chart?
A composite chart is built from the midpoint between matching placements in two natal charts. Astrologers use it as a symbolic chart for the relationship as a shared entity, alongside—not instead of—synastry and real relationship context.
How does this calculator handle 0° Aries?
It uses the shorter arc between two longitudes. For example, the midpoint between 359° and 1° is 0°, not 180°. The formula normalizes the difference before dividing it in half.
Do both people need a birth time?
A date and place are required for both people. If either time is missing, this implementation omits Moon and the composite Ascendant rather than presenting a guessed noon result as precise. Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto remain available.
Does the calculator show composite aspects?
Yes. After calculating the midpoint positions, Velvet Zodiac checks the major conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition patterns between those composite points and ranks the tightest results by orb. These are internal composite aspects, not synastry aspects between the two natal charts.
