What this chart includes
Planets, angles, and houses—with the method named.
The calculator combines tropical geocentric planetary longitudes with a separately calculated Ascendant and Midheaven axis. You can then choose Whole Sign, Equal House, or Placidus without changing the planets themselves. That separation matters: changing a house system can move a planet to a different house even though its zodiac longitude is unchanged.
Whole Sign starts the first house at 0° of the sign containing the Ascendant. Equal House starts the first house at the exact Ascendant degree and advances in 30° steps. Placidus instead uses the Ascendant and Midheaven as quadrant anchors and iteratively divides diurnal and nocturnal motion into unequal intermediate cusps. The tool names the active system, refuses Placidus where that construction is mathematically undefined near the poles, and adds a non-reassignment boundary note when a placement falls within 2° of the selected system’s nearest cusp.

Birth chart calculator FAQ
Does this birth chart calculator include houses?
Yes. It supports Whole Sign, Ascendant-based Equal House, and Placidus. Whole Sign and Equal divide the zodiac into twelve 30-degree houses; Placidus uses unequal time-based quadrant cusps and is unavailable inside the polar circles.
Does it calculate the Midheaven (MC) and IC?
Yes. MC is calculated from local sidereal time and Earth’s obliquity for the birth instant and geographic longitude; IC is exactly opposite. The MC is kept separate from the tenth-house cusp because those points are not identical in every house system.
Which planets are included?
Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are included, plus the Ascendant. Astronomy Engine does not expose True Node or Chiron as Body values in the version used by Velvet Zodiac, so this tool does not invent them.
Is my birth information uploaded?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. A finished chart is written to browser storage only when you choose Save on this device, and saved charts can be reopened or removed from the local shelf on this page.
